FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team travels to Evanston, Ill., to play in the Northwestern Wildcat Invitational this weekend.
Sophomores Jovan Parlic and Victor Hoang will represent the Razorbacks this weekend at the invite, both playing in a singles flight while also pairing up for doubles play.
This will be Parlic’s second tournament for the 2012 fall season. At the Midland Invitational Parlic went 1-1 in singles winning an intense three-set match over Nebraska’s Dusty Boyers. Parlic paired up with junior Pete Thomason at Midland and they recorded 2-1 record in doubles.
Hoang will be competing in his fourth tournament of the fall. Through three tournaments he has posted a 4-3 singles record collecting two of his wins at the Louisville Fall Invitational. In doubles play Hoang has paired up with three different teammates and posted a 3-3 record.
"We are really looking forward to compete at the Wildcat Invitational," head coach Robert Cox said. "I would like to see Jovan and Victor go up there and play some solid tennis and come back with some wins and some great experience."
Play begins on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with Parlic taking on Francisco Stuardo from Toledo and Hoang facing Matt Wareti of Toledo. The two will then pair up and play a doubles match at 4:30 p.m. against the duo of Javier Hernani and Gelb Skylr of Marquette.
