Hog Golfers Head to SEC Tournament in Georgia
BY ANDRES FOCIL
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s golf squad heads to St. Simon’s Island, Ga., this weekend to compete in the 2001 Southeastern Conference Tournament. The championship consists of three rounds to be played Friday through Sunday at Sea Island Golf Club.
Senior All-American Craig Lile should be in the hunt for the SEC individual title after leading the Hogs in every tournament and having the lowest stroke average in the conference. Lile has won three individual tournament titles this year and has not finished out of the top 20 in the 10 tournaments in which the Hogs have competed.
Other Hogs competing at the SEC Championships are sophomore Beau Galyean, sophomore Drew Higginbothom, redshirt freshman Adam Wing and freshman Kyle Vance. Lile and Galyean are the only two Razorbacks competing in the event who have any previous SEC Championships experience.
At last year’s conference tournament at Turtle Point Golf Club in Killen, Ala., the Hogs finished 11th and were led by Lile, who finished in a tie for 24th shooting a 223 over the three day tournament.
