AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 21 Arkansas men’s golf team ended the first round of play at Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate in a tie with Georgia State for third place with a score of 294 and six over par. The Razorbacks are seven strokes behind the leader, Auburn (287, -1).
“We need to come out tomorrow and shoot par better,” Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham said. “We were more consistent through the number one and five golfers, but our third and fourth guys should lower their scores and be more around par. When that happens we’ll start accomplishing our goals. I know the guys are looking forward to coming out tomorrow and improving.”
Junior Andrew Dahl continues to lead the Hogs on Saugahatchee Country Club’s 72-par, 6,689-yard golf course as he sits in a tie for fourth place with a one under par and 71. In his first tournament since the Morris Williams Invitational on March 16-18, freshman Paul Bradshaw finished the day in a three-way tie for 11th with a 73 and one over par.
Juniors Seth Murphy and Adam Wing both shot 75 to put them at three over par and in a six-way tie for 22nd place. Freshman Darren Holder rounded out the UA in a tie for 28th place after he went four over par for a 76.
The second round will begin Saturday morning at 8 a.m., with the third round concluding the tournament on Sunday at 8 a.m.
