ATHENS, Ga. – Sophomore Rohan Gajjar and freshman Matt Simpson will begin their spring season while representing Arkansas in the SEC Indoor Tennis Championship on Friday, Jan. 16.
Gajjar will begin play against a qualifier from the qualifying draw, while Simpson, from New Zealand, will play in his first collegiate match when he takes on Nate Emge of Kentucky. The two players will also team up to play doubles during the tournament, which will begin on Saturday morning.
“I am excited to begin the new season,” said Arkansas head coach Robert Cox. “I hope these two guys will represent the team well this weekend.”
The tournament will begin the spring season for the Razorback team. The complete team will begin its dual match season when it takes on Stirling in an exhibition match next Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m. The following weekend, the Hogs will host the bi-annual Hog Tennis Alumni reunion event, in which Arkansas will honor one of its greatest tennis figures in a ceremony at noon on Saturday, Jan. 24.
