Arkansas basketball notes
Arkansas has advanced to the finals of the SEC Tournament the last two years. Arkansas’ .556 winning percentage in the SEC Tournament ties Tennessee for the third-best in the SEC. Kentucky is first at .840 and Alabama second at .571.
Junior forward Michael Washington has been named second-team All-SEC by the league’s coaches and point guard Courtney Fortson is on the all-freshman team.
Freshman Courtney Fortson scored a game-high 18 points at Vanderbilt on Sunday, but he was 7-of-27 shooting from the floor. The 27 shot attempts tie Martin Terry (TCU, 1973) for the sixth-most in a game in school history.
Freshman Rotnei Clarke has made four or more three-pointers in eight of the last nine games. He is 35-of-81 on threes over the last nine games, 43.2 percent. Over that same stretch, he is second on the team in scoring with 15.6 points per game, trailing only Courtney Fortson (16.3).
Freshman Michael Sanchez has 20 rebounds of the last three games (6.7). He had 19 total over his previous five contests.
Freshman Rotnei Clarke has made 80-of-201 three-pointers this season (.398). His 80 treys are the most for a Razorback since Jannero Pargo made 95-of-220 (.432) in 2002.
Only three current Razorbacks – juniors Michael Washington and Stefan Welsh, and sophomore Marcus Britt – have seen action in the SEC Tournament.
Freshman Andre Clark has seven rebounds in the last two games. He had a total of six in his previous nine appearances.
