FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After enjoying an open date on Saturday, the University of Arkansas football team resumed preparations for next Saturday’s game at Auburn with a two-hour workout Sunday afternoon at Walker Pavilion. Sophomore center Josh Melton returned to practice Sunday for the first time since suffering a concussion in the Oct. 14 loss at South Carolina. “Melton moved around pretty good,” UA head coach Houston Nutt said. “They were all moving around pretty fast.” Nutt indicated that sophomore quarterback Robby Hampton likely will start Saturday at Auburn but added that he will continue to evaluate the situation as both Hampton and freshman Zak Clark continue to recover from injuries suffered in the loss at South Carolina. “Robby is moving a lot better than Zak right now,” Nutt said. “Zak, he’s better than he was and we expect even more improvement, but he’s still a little gimpy.” Nutt also expressed surprise over some of last Saturday’s games, including LSU’s upset of Mississippi State. “I’ve got a lot of respect for (LSU) and the way they handled things,” Nutt said. “They didn’t give up. “All of a sudden 4-2 looks pretty good and you realize that this conference race is wide open,” Nutt said, assessing the Razorbacks’ outlook for the rest of the season. “Anything can happen if we take care of our business.” Kickoff for the Arkansas-Auburn contest Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT. A telecast of the game will be available via pay-per-view through a joint venture of the Arkansas Razorback Sports Network and the Auburn Network.
