Hogs Continue Cotton Bowl Preparations

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks continued their preparation for the Cotton Bowl with a two-hour workout Friday afternoon in the Walker Indoor Pavilion.
Although the Razorbacks are currently in the middle of taking final exams, head coach Houston Nutt was pleased with the team’s concentration and effort during the practice session.
“Everybody is studying for finals right now and we had a little lapse in concentration early on,” Nutt said. “But they came back and finished strong. That is what I like about this group, they are always excited to play. Our freshmen had a really good scrimmage today and that is what this is all about.”
Nutt said there has been a little bit of a rush by the coaching staff to get everything in order because of the late announcement of the bowl games last week.
“We’ve been a little cramped because this was the last week for recruiting,” Nutt said. “The SEC Championship game being pushed back a week has caused us to be a little rushed. Usually you know by the first of December where you are going, but we are about a week off schedule now and it’s been rushed.”
The Razorbacks will practice on Saturday and Sunday Nutt said, but next week’s practice schedule has yet to be determined.
“The players are taking finals until Wednesday so we’ll have to check everybody’s schedule,” Nutt said. “We would like to be able to get another seven days of work in. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
Arkansas and the defending national champion Oklahoma Sooners will begin the New Year’s Day bowl festivities with a 10 a.m. kickoff in the Southwester Bell Cotton Bowl. The game will be played in Dallas, Texas, and will be nationally televised by FOX.
