BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — It was a sweep over North Carolina State that capped off an excellent weekend for the Hogs in Bloomington, Ind. Sunday afternoon. While In Dallas, Texas, junior Oskar Johansson lost in the consolation finals of the Rolex Indoor Championships.
At the Rolex Indoors, Johansson was defeated by Florida’s Justin O’Neil 6-4, 7-6. Johansson advanced to the consolation finals by winning three matches over the weekend.
In Indiana, a team of Hogs swept all the matches of the Sunday’s dual tournament round against NC State. They won all seven singles matches and won two-of-three matches in doubles play.
In the dual tournament, the Razorbacks won more singles matches than any of the three teams. The tourney included Indiana, Kentucky and NC State.
At No. 1 singles, Henrik Tofft defeated Erik Jackson 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. At No. 2, Magnus Kullenberg defeated Deavany Desai.
Playing at the No. 3 position was Tiago Azevedo. Azevedo did not lose a match all weekend. In Sunday’s match, he defeated Sean Thomas 6-3, 6-4.
In the No. 4 position was Aleksey Bubis who defeated Ryan Boward 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Senior Chris Campbell collected a win at No. 5 singles against Jeff Smith 6-1, 6-0. Eduardo Pacheco defeated Bryan Calman in three sets and John Deaton defeated Brad Kilgore in three sets.
Picking up wins in doubles were Tofft and Deaton, and the team of Brad Berry and Campbell.
The Hogs will be in action against Texas Christian this Thursday, Feb. 10 at the University of Arkansas Tennis Center.
