Hogs Drop Pitcher's Duel at Vandy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 16 University of Arkansas baseball team received 7.0 perfect innings from Trey Killian Sunday afternoon, but No. 5 Vanderbilt rallied with a walk off single in the ninth inning to pick up a 1-0 victory at Hawkins Field in SEC action.

Killian was perfect in every sense of the word, tossing 7.0 innings and retiring all 21 batters he faced. He never went to three balls on any hitter and added six strikeouts to dominate the Commodores.

Clark Eagan kept the no-hitter alive in the fifth inning when he dove and snagged a line drive mid-air to keep the perfect game alive. Killian left the game after reaching his pitch count during his return from injury. He threw 83 pitches, 62 of which were strikes.

Arkansas had a chance to take the lead in the eighth inning with the bases loaded and one out, but Rick Nomura lifted a fly ball to right field and Eagan was thrown out at the plate trying to score to end the inning.

Vanderbilt recorded its first hit of the day in the eighth inning off Josh Alberius and went on to score a run in the ninth to earn the 1-0 victory.

The Razorbacks return to action Tuesday evening, welcoming Southeast Missouri State to town for a two-game midweek series. First pitch at Baum Stadium is slated for 6:35 p.m.
