STANFORD, Calif. – Arkansas men’s golf team placed 16th in one of the toughest tournaments in the nation at The Nelson Invitational Sunday.
The Nelson Invitational hosted 22 teams in which five are ranked in the MasterCard Collegiate top 25 rankings.
Arkansas shot an 881 (+29) for the tournament with Saturday’s round of 293 being the lowest round for the Hogs.
Craig Lile, a junior, tied for 30th with a 4-over par 217, for the three rounds of the tournament. Freshman Jay Houk tied for 52nd with an 8-over par 221. Sophomore Drew Higginbothom shot a 10-over par 223 which placed him in a tie for 67th. Freshmen Ryan Blagg and Beau Galyean tied for 73rd and 97th respectively.
This was the Hogs’ final tournament of the 1999 fall season. They will begin play in January in Tucson, Ariz.
The Hogs had a solid, fall campaign with strong team finishes and junior Craig Lile winning the Lexus Invitational in Fresno, Calif. Lile shot a 12-under par 201 in the tournament including a 69 on the final day for the title.
The Razorbacks top finishes were 12th at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate and 12th at the Big “E” Shootout in McKinney, Texas.
