Hogs Fall to Zags in Midweek Action

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 16 University of Arkansas baseball team saw Gonzaga break up a tie game with five runs in the seventh inning before picking up a 15-5 victory Wednesday afternoon at Baum Stadium.

Andrew Benintendi had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three runs batted in. He tied the game with an RBI single in the second inning, before connecting with a two-run blast to right field in the eighth frame for his team-leading fourth home run of the year.

Eagan got in on the long ball mix in the fifth inning, launching a towering solo shot down the right field line for his first big fly of the season to give Arkansas a 3-2 at the time.

The Razorbacks have hit multiple home runs in five games this season and rank fourth in the SEC with 14 home runs on the year.

The Razorbacks sent seven pitchers to the hill with Parker Sanburn (0-1) picking up the loss after walking both batters he faced. Cannon Chadwick got the start and threw 3.0 innings, while Jackson Lowery followed with 3.0 innings of work in relief.

Arkansas opens SEC play this weekend, traveling to defending National Champion Vanderbilt for a three-game series against the Commodores. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
