FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Houston Nutt and the Arkansas Razorbacks ended the week of practice on a good note. The final preparations were set in place for this weekend’s game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Razorbacks shored things up in the kicking game.
“We hit the kicking game real hard today, along with two-minute, short-yardage and goal line. The guys came out here with a good focus,” Nutt said. “We’ve had a great preparation all week long and that’s what it takes. I hope we can take it to the field.”
Nutt was pleased with the week’s work in the goal line, but still wishes he had more time to work on it.
“I always wish we had more time,” Nutt said. “We hurt ourselves by missing some assignments and doing some things we don’t normally do down there. We just have to come off and block – especially when you don’t know exactly where the defense is going to line up. Joe Lee [Dunn] as you know will give you some different looks.”
Nutt answered questions regarding the Bulldogs’ punt rush being a concern.
“Any time when you have a punt blocked the week before, you’ve got a lot of concerned. You’ve opened up a can of worms and you know that they’re going to see if you’ve got it protected and see if you’ve corrected the mistakes from the week before.”
The Razorbacks kickoff in Starkville, Miss., at Wade Davis Stadium on Saturday at 1:30 pm.
