Hogs in Tie for Eighth after First Day of SEC
KILLEN, Ala. – Arkansas men’s golf team shot an 18-over-par 306 Friday to place in a tie for eighth on the first day of the Southeastern Conference Men’s Golf Championships, held at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.

Georgia leads after the first round shooting a 2-under-par 286. Auburn is four shots behind the Bulldogs, with a 290. Mississippi State is in third place shooting a 297, followed by LSU and Tennessee tied for fourth at 301.

Taking one junior, one sophomore and three freshmen the Razorbacks fired an opening round 306 to tie for eighth.

Freshman Ryan Blagg leads the way for the Hogs in a tie for 17th. Blagg shot a consistent 37, 38 for a total of 75.

Beau Galyean is tied at 22nd, shooting a 4-over-par 76 on the opening round. Junior Craig Lile is currently in a tie at 28th. He shot a 42 on the front nine before recovering on the back nine shooting a 1-under 35 for a total of 77.

Sophomore Ed McSpadden finished the day at 6-over shooting a 78. Jay Houk shot a first round 37 before faltering a bit on the back nine shooting a 43. He finished in a tie for 49th.

Arkansas will play their second 18 holes Saturday.
