FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following a week that saw the Hogs defeat Michigan State at home and then drop two conference matches on the road to No. 2 Florida and No. 14 South Carolina, the Razorbacks were pleasantly rewarded by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s national ranking committee.
The Razorbacks, who were ranked 20th, moved up two spots to No. 18 in Wednesday’s rankings. Joining the Razorbacks in the top-20 were fellow SEC schools Florida (2nd), Ole Miss (8th), Kentucky (9th), South Carolina (14th), Alabama (19th) and LSU (20th). The other conference schools found themselves close behind. Vanderbilt is 21st, Georgia 23rd, Auburn 24th, Tennessee 26th and Mississippi State 36th. Next week, the ITA will begin administering computer rankings for the teams.
The Razorbacks’ ranking is their highest since they were ranked No. 18 in the March 31st, 2002, rankings. It is also the highest the Razorbacks have been ranked in over three years.
The Hogs will see their next competition when they travel to No. 23 Georgia in an early afternoon SEC match up.
