Hogs Send 21 Players To College Summer Leagues
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback baseball team will have 21 players spending time in various college leagues across the country this summer with two heading to the prestigious Cape Cod league and one trying to earn a spot on the USA Collegiate National Team.
Catcher Grant Koch leads the way as he hopes to join a long list of Razorback legends to play for the USA Collegiate National Team. The soon-to-be junior reports to the USA Baseball training facility this week in Cary, N.C. and is part of the official training camp invitees. If he makes the team, he will be the 14th member of the Arkansas baseball program to play for Team USA and the first since Zach Jackson in 2015.
Outfielder Luke Bonfield and pitcher Barrett Loseke will both play in the Cape Cod League and will be teammates for the Wareham Gatemen. This is the third-straight season that Bonfield has played for the top league in college summer baseball and he is coming off a strong junior season that saw him hit .294 over 64 games with nine home runs and 49 RBIs.
The Northwoods League out of the upper Midwest will be home to seven Razorbacks this summer, the largest for any league this year. The California Collegiate League will be the place for six Hogs, while the Coastal Plain, Alaska, and Texas Collegiate Leagues will each have two Razorbacks on their rosters.
