FAYETTEVILLE— The Arkansas softball team tied the Alumni squad 2-2 in an eighth inning rally by the alumni at Bogle Park, Saturday, Sept. 18.
Junior Tori Mort put the Razorbacks on the board in the third inning, stealing second and home. The second run of the game came in the fourth by sophomore Stephanie Brewer who went 2-for-2 against the Alumni. Freshman Chloe Oprzedek also went 2-for-2 on two singles.
Four Hogs worked though two innings each in the circle with sophomore Hope McLemore making a good first showing for the pitching staff. McLemore completed two innings with five strike outs. Senior Layne McGuirt faced six batters in her two innings and struck two out.
“I thought we pitched well today,” head coach Mike Larabee said. We got a chance to work everyone through and give them a chance to play. It was good for us.”
The Alumni made their showing in the eighth inning when Mindy O’Malley Lawson got the former Hogs on the board off an RBI by Dayne Huckabee. The Alums scored once more in the inning to tie the game before Katy Henry, who played from 2005-09, pitched to the last three Razorbacks to wrap up the game.
The Hogs take on Texarkana College on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 5 p.m. at Bogle Park.
