FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback golf team hopes to continue their string of success as they wrap up their fall golf schedule at the Country Club of Louisiana Invitational in Baton Rouge, La., October 28-29. Last weekend at the SMU-Stonebridge Invitational Arkansas came away with a third place team finish, while junior Andrew Dahl captured the tournament title.
“We’re excited to get back out there and play,” Arkansas head coach Mike Kectham said. “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, when your team is playing well you want to get out there. We’re taking the exact same guys we’ve had the past two weeks. I think the chemistry among these five guys is excellent right now. We want to give them the opportunity to win a golf tournament, because we’ve been very close the last two weeks.”
Senior Nick Beach; juniors Andrew Dahl, Seth Murphy, Adam Wing; and freshman Paul Bradshaw will be representing the Hogs in Baton Rouge, La.
The recent rain in the state of Louisiana has caused a concern for the quality of playing conditions at the course, but Ketcham is confident that his team will prevail and be able to play through.
“The weather is a concern down there, however we saw some adverse conditions when we were at SMU with a golf course that had received five inches of rain two days before we got there. So, in terms of playing in wet conditions were used to it.”
Seven Southeastern Conference teams, including Arkansas, will be competing. Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kentucky and LSU will be set to tee off, as will Tulane, UAB, North Florida, Georgia Southern and the College of Charleston.
“It’s a great field,” Ketcham said. “It’s very similar to what we saw at the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla. It will be an opportunity to see where we stand in the conference at the end of fall.”
Arkansas will play two rounds on Monday, October 28, with the final round being played on Tuesday, October 29. The Razorbacks will not take to the course again until the spring when they’ll travel to Kona, Hawaii for the Taylor Made Intercollegiate on February 10-14.
