FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorbacks put the finishing touches on the game plan for the ninth-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks with an hour and a half workout Thursday afternoon. The Razorbacks worked on the two-minute offense, special teams and working with a wet football as rain is predicted for Saturday’s contest.
Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt was pleased with the team’s effort during practice and their execution of the game plan.
“We’ve had a good week,” Nutt said. “The scout team has done a good job of simulating South Carolina. We have had good execution all week. We worked on some special situations like the two-minute drill and our check offs. We’re looking forward to Saturday.”
Nutt added eliminating costly turnovers and mistakes will be key against the Gamecocks who have not thrown an interception this season.
“We’ve worked very hard on putting everything together,” Nutt said. “I would really like to see all phases of the game, offense, defense and special teams, come together and play mistake-free football. We have not done that yet.
“I just want us to take the attitude and effort we have had this week in practice and carry it over to gameday. I have been very happy with the guys this week and everything they have shown us in practice.”
Nutt also commented on the improvement of tailback Cedric Cobbs who has been slowed by a hamstring injury.
“He looked better today,” Nutt said. “Hopefully in the next 48 hours he will be close to full speed and ready to go for Saturday.”
Arkansas and the ninth-ranked Gamecocks will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. from War Memorial Stadium. The game will be nationally televised by CBS.
