Hogs at ITA All-American

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- Arkansas Razorbacks Christopher Nott and Dmitry Lebedev, members of the men’s tennis team, stormed the courts as the No. 9 tournament seed in the opening round of doubles play at the ITA All-American tournament.

Lebedev and Nottopened first serve against Minnesota’s Dino Bilankov and Sebastian Gallego. The duo played with authority defeating Bilankov and Gallago, 8-5, and Leo Rosenberg and Andreas Weber of Hawaii, 8-2.

“Chris and Dmitry played great doubles," head coach Robert Cox Said. "It was very refreshing after a long day of singles. They played quality opponents and fought their way into the qualifying rounds.”

The road ended for the Hogs in singles play Monday evening in the first round of the qualifying tournament. Matt Hogan fell early to the tournament No. 28 seed Matt Allare of Ohio State, 7-5, 6-3. The No. 23 seedSimon Childs of Louisville defeated Arkansas’ Nott in a tough first round. Childs won the match, 6-4, 6-2.

Lebedev had a stellar tournament earning him a spot in the qualifying segment of the tournament. He fell in a third setto Henrique Cunha of Duke, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5, eliminating him from the tournament.

“A lot of good has come out of this tournament,” Cox said. "We know where we need to go from here and what we can work on."

Nott and Lebedev will return to the doubles court to face USC-Upstate’s Jack Roux and Javier Tori on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 2pm.
