Hogs at NCAA Regional Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-The No. 9 University of Arkansas men’s golf team will be making its postseason appearance at the NCAA Regional Championships held in Stillwater, Okla. on Thursday. Arkansas enters the tournament with nine top 5 finishes this season, and under the direction the SEC Coach of the Year, Brad McMakin.

The Razorbacks are seeded No. 2 for the tournament behind tournament host No. 4 ranked Oklahoma State. The Cowboys were the winners of the Big 12 Conference. Also in the top five of the field of 13 teams are: Mountain West winner No. 16 Texas Christian, No. 21 LSU is the fourth seed, No. 28 Chattanooga as the No. 5 seed.

The rest of the field includes No. 33 Pepperdine, No. 40 Michigan State, No. 46 Baylor, No. 52 Northwestern No. 59 Tulsa, No. 61 Denver, No. 84 and winner of the Missouri Valley Wichita State and No. 137 and winner of the Summit League Oral Roberts. Ten individuals also advanced to this regional site.

This tournament is one of six 54-hole regional tournaments hosted by the NCAA, with the five lowest teams and lowest individual not apart of those teams advancing to the NCAA Championship May 26-30 at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

Arkansas was named to the fifth and final Nike/Golf World Coaches’ poll of the spring season. The Hogs moved up from the No. 13 position in the last poll to No. 9 with 351 points.

The tournament will be played at the 7,407 yard, Par 72 Karsten Creek Golf Club designed by Tom Fazio. Live Scoring will be available at Golfstat.com for the three-day event.
