Hogs Cover All of the Basics in Wednesday Workout

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 11th-ranked Arkansas football team worked on all aspects of the game during a 90-minute workout on the grass practice fields south of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

“Wednesday is another good work day with a good, long, hard practice,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “We just tired to hit everything, covering every area from special teams, to all of their offensive sets.

Hogs’ All-American linebacker Sam Olajubutu sat out of Wednesday’s workout, but the senior is expected to be ready for Saturday night’s showdown with No. 13 Tennessee on ESPN2 at 6 p.m.

“He is a tough guy I will tell you that,” Nutt said. He is wearing a brace, and his knee is a little sore, but he could have gone today if he needed to. He took a little breather today and got a lot of mental reps.”

Coach Nutt also addressed the loss of free safety Michael Grant, who will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL in the fourth quarter at South Carolina.

“That hurts a lot to lose a guy like that (Grant), who is gaining a lot of confidence,” Nutt said. “He had three picks in Little Rock (vs. ULM) and was really feeling good, it’s a shame. But Kevin Woods, we have a lot of confidence in him and guys like Dallas Washington and Elston Forte have to step up.”
