Hogs Cruise Past Chicago St. 6-0

CHICAGO, Ill. No. 30 Arkansas swept all six singles matches, and the Razorbacks cruised to a, 6-0, triumph over Chicago St. Saturday night in Chicago, Ill.

There was not a doubles point played, and Arkansas (2-3) claimed each of the six singles contests in straight sets en route to the win.

Blake Strode, ranked 57th in the nation, paced the Hogs with a, 6-4, 6-3, win over Chicago St.’s Prakosa Imanuel at No. 1. Strode, a native of St. Louis, Mo., improved to 12-4 for the 2006-07 campaign and is 3-1 in dual matches. For his career, the sophomore is now 22-6 in duals.

At No. 2, junior Colin Mascall notched a, 6-4, 6-2, victory over Prabowa Imanuel. Freshman Gabriel Mattos tallied a point for the Hogs at No. 3, knocking off Nicolas Ortega, 6-1, 6-0.

In the bottom half of the lineup, freshman Dmitry Lebedev grabbed a point at No. 4 with a, 7-5, 6-3, victory against Jonathan Sutjadi, while senior Andrei Nicoara defeated Toni Judokic, 6-3, 6-2. Hog freshman Dmitry Vlaskin rounded out the scoring at No. 6, besting Cameron Shunklin, 6-3, 6-1.

For the season, Mascall improves to 6-7, while Mattos betters his mark to 6-6. Vlaskin jumps to 5-6, Nicoara to 4-4, and Lebedev to 4-9.

Arkansas returns to action Tuesday, opening the home portion of their schedule in a doubleheader against Cowley County Community College and Wichita St. The first match against Cowley County will begin at 11 a.m., while the nightcap with Wichita St. is set for a 6 p.m. first serve.

Both matches will held at the Dills Indoor Tennis Center across from Bud Walton Arena on Razorback Road.
