Hogs earn SEC awards

FAYETTEVILLE – The Southeastern Conference has announced the 2010 All-SEC Indoor Track and Field teams with 23 members of the Arkansas Razorback men’s and women’s track and field teams gracing the lists.

On the women’s side, junior Edina Brooks, freshman Regina George, sophomore Whitney Jones, sophomore Tina Sutej and junior Shelise Williams earned first-team All-SEC honors. Williams won the 400 meters and teamed with Brooks, Jones and George to win the 4×400-meter relay while Sutej won the pole vault.

Freshman Stephanie Brown, sophomore Kristen Gillespie, sophomore Samantha Learch and senior Karen Thomas earned second-team All-SEC honors for their runner-up finish in the distance medley relay.

Brown, Taylor Johnson and Leah Orley were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Brown was fifth in the 800 meters, Johnson was seventh in the mile and Orley was seventh in the pentathlon.

The NCAA Championships will be held Fri.-Sat., March 12-13, at Fayetteville’s Randal Tyson Track Center.
