Hogs face Virginia tonight in Charlottesville Va.

Charlottesville, Va. – After an ice storm forced the University of Arkansas men’s tennis team to cancel dual matches with Oral Roberts and UMKC on Tuesday, the Hogs are back in action tonight at the ITA National Indoor Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. The Razorbacks will face No. 5 Virginia at 6 p.m. EST at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at Boar’s Head.Once again led by No. 15 senior Blake Strode (3-0) in the No. 1 spot in the lineup, the Hogs will send No. 39 Matt Hogan (2-1) against Virginia in the No. 2 hole, followed by Chris Nott (2-1) at No. 3.

Dmitry Lebedev (1-2) will play for Arkansas at No. 4 and freshman Nikolas Zogaj (2-1), solid in his matches at the Auburn Spring Classic last weekend will enter the lineup as the No. 5 player. Tyler Tarnasky (0-2) rounds out the six-man lineup for the Razorbacks in singles.

Virginia has six players ranked in the top 110 in the nation, including No. 11 Michael Shabaz who eliminated Strode in the consolation quarterfinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships in November. The Cavaliers’ No. 43 Dominic Inglot knocked out Hogan at the same tournament.

In doubles the Hogs’ No. 14 duo of Strode and Hogan (2-1) will play in the No. 1 position. The Hogs’ will also send the teams of Nott and Lebedev and Tarnasky and Williams onto the doubles court against the Cavaliers.

As strong in doubles as they are in singles, Virginia boasts two top 30 doubles teams. Sanam Singh and partner Houston Barrick are ranked No. 3 and Inglot and Shabaz make up the country’s No. 27 duo.
