Hogs head to Mississippi

FAYETTEVILLE– The No. 42 Arkansas Razorbacks will travel in SEC conference action to Mississippi this weekend. The Hog’s first stop will be against the No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, Miss. before facing off against No. 49 Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss. Arkansas fell to No. 7 Florida but bounced back with a big 4-2 win over No. 50 South Carolina in Fayetteville last weekend. The Hogs dropped the doubles point but were able to rally back to win four singles matches. No. 57 Christopher Nott clinched win for the Hogs at the No. 1 position with his win over NO. 65 Diego Cubas, 6-4, 7-6(4).
“We had a great win at home,” Arkansas head coach Robert Cox said. “We needed that first SEC win behind us. It was a good team effort and it show was happens when we give it our all. ”
The Razorbacks will set serve against the Rebels Friday at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center at 2 p.m in Oxford, Miss. The Rebels are 9-2 in dual season and 1-1 in SEC play. In the SEC opener, Ole Miss defeated No. 27 Vanderbilt before dropping No. 6 Kentucky, 5-2.
Arkansas and Ole Miss have already met once this season at the ITA National Team Indoor in Oxford, Miss. The final decision of the match came down to the last court in the Rebels favor.
The Razorbacks’ road trip continues against the No.49 Mississippi State at 10 a.m. in Starkville, Miss. The Bulldogs are 6-5 in the dual season and 0-2 SEC play. Mississippi fell at Kentucky and Vanderbilt last weekend. No. 100 sophomore Louis Cant with a 9-1-season record leads Mississippi State. He defeated No. 8-ranked Eric Quigley of Kentucky in set straights in Lexington, Ky., at the No. 1 singles position.
“This weekend we are on the road to face a top 15 team Ole Miss and Mississippi State,” Cox said. “Always tough matches but we will be ready to play. ”
Arkansas is on the road this weekend and is schedule to set serve against Ole Miss at 2 p.m. in Oxford, Miss. and then Mississippi State at 10 a.m. in Starkville, Miss.
