Hogs Hooked at No. 13 Texas 6-1

AUSTIN, Texas. – Arkansas ended its’ seven-match road trip Wednesday night, losing to 13th-ranked Texas, 6-1, at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas.

The Razorbacks fall to 6-10 on the season, while Texas improves to 6-4.

Nine of the Hogs 10 losses this season have come against ranked opponents, with six of those coming to teams currently in the ITA top 45.

Colin Mascall salvaged the only point for the Razorbacks at No. 2 singles. The junior fought back from a 5-3 deficit in the third to upset 85th-ranked Milan Mihailovic, 6-2, 6-7(5), 7-5.

Arkansas lost a tough first-set at No. 1 singles, where the Hogs’ 90th-ranked Blake Strode dropped a tiebreaker to UT’s Dimitar Kutrovsky, who went on to upset the Razorback sophomore, 7-6(4), 6-2.

The Hogs saw a lead evaporate at No. 4, where freshmen Dmitry Lebedev raced to an easy first set against Josh Zavala, but Lebedev could not hold on, losing, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Texas also took matches on courts three, five and six, as well as the doubles point.

Arkansas returns to action Friday afternoon for its Southeastern Conference home opener, and its first home match since Feb. 9. The Hogs will battle 32nd-ranked Vanderbilt at 1:30 p.m. at the UA Tennis Complex across from Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.
