Hogs host Razorback Invitational this weekend

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team welcomes Oregon, Wichita State and Pacific to the Dills Indoor Stadium this weekend for the Razorback Invitational. This will be the first home event for the Hogs, who had to postpone two dual matches earlier this season due to the ice storm that came through Fayetteville in late January. On Friday, the No. 47 Hogs (2-2) will play the Oregon Ducks in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Ducks are 5-3 on the season, having posted wins over Northern Arizona, Portland State, Texas-San Antonio, Idaho and Samford.

The Hogs are hoping to keep their two match winning streak alive against Oregon after defeating Illinois State and Purdue last weekend in West Lafayette, Ind. So far this season, the top four in the Razorbacks’ singles lineup, led by No. 15 Blake Strode, have been solid, going a combined 12-6 through four dual matches.

On the doubles court, the Hogs have found strength, partnering sophomore Chris Nott and junior Dmitry Lebedev. The duo has gone 4-0 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, including wins over teams from No. 5 Virginia and No. 34 Wisconsin. Nott and Lebedev add much-needed doubles depth behind the No. 14 team of Strode and Matt Hogan, giving Arkansas reason to believe it can capture the doubles point more often than last season when the Hogs took 10 of 24 doubles points in the regular season.

The Razorback Invitational kicks off Friday morning at 10 a.m. when Wichita State takes on Pacific at the Dills Indoor Stadium. Arkansas will face Oregon in the second game of the day at 5:30 p.m. Parking for the Invite is available in lot 43 west, directly in front of the Dills Indoor Stadium.
