Hogs in 2nd after 36 at Wolverine

ANN ARBOR, Mich.-The first two rounds of the 2009 Wolverine concluded late on Saturday with the University of Arkansas men’s golf team in second place behind host Michigan.

Arkansas was only one stroke off the lead in the field of 14 teams after the first round, but Michigan widened its lead by 11 strokes in the second. Michigan posted three players in the top five to help secure the lead with a 21-under 555(277-278). Arkansas had a more difficult second round to post a 10-under 566(278-288).

Baylor spent both rounds in the No. 3 spot carding a 2-under 574(285-289) for the day. The University of Louisville made a jump from seventh place into fourth with a 2-over 578(293-285). Minnesota slipped into fifth place with a 3-over 579(288-291). The University of Eastern Michigan, Iowa State University, and Miami of Ohio all tied for sixth with 5-over 581.

Lion Kim of Michigan took first place on the player leader board with 8-under 136(69-67). David Lingmerth and Jamie Marshall of Arkansas both tied for 3-under 141, carding (71-70) and (70-71), respectively. Ethan Tracy finished in a tie for 17th after being in first place after the first 18 holes of the day; he carded an even par 144(68-76).

Austin Cook tied for 31st with 3-over 147(69-78). Ty Spinella evened out play for the Razorbacks with a 6-over 150(79-71).

The Hogs will return to tournament play on Sunday at the par 72, 6,979 yard Radrick Farms Golf Club. Stats will be available on golfstat.com and results at ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
