Hogs match up for final non-conference play

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 65 University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will face Oral Roberts and Saint Louis in its final two non-conference matches of the season. The doubleheader will take place on Wednesday at the Billingsley Tennis Center. Last week, the Hogs went 1-1 in play against the Wichita State Shockers and the Tennessee Volunteers. On Wednesday, Wichita State came to Fayetteville for a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Hogs. Chris Nott gathered his third straight win at the No. 1 position. On Saturday, the Volunteers proved why they are No. 1 and swept the Hogs in a 7-0 victory."We’re playing lost of matches close, but just can’t seem to close them out," said head coach Robert Cox. "Wichita State was a much needed win for us, I’m really proud of my guys."

This Wednesday, the Hogs first matchup in the doubleheader features the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts. The Eagles are 2-5 on the season. Their last victory was a 4-3 win over South Dakota State on Sunday. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Next up for the Hogs are the Billikens of Saint Louis. The Billikens are 4-6 on the season. Their last two matches resulted in losses against Drake and UMKC last week. Saint Louis will be getting another match under its belt today against its cross-town foe Missouri-St. Louis, prior to the matchup with the Hogs on Wednesday. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Hogs are led in singles by Chris Nott who has six dual victories, and Matt Hogan who has seven. In doubles play, duos Mike Ward/Nikolas Zogaj and Gregoire Lehmann/Chris Nott lead all other pairs. Ward/Zogaj have gathered seven wins while Lehmann/Nott have accumulated six in dual play this year.
