Hogs sixth seventh in SEC hep

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshmen Nate Durham and Terry Prentice began competition at the SEC Indoor Championships for Arkansas Razorback men’s track and field Friday night. Both competed in the first day of the heptathlon.

"This is a solid start for us," head coach Chris Bucknam said. "This is Terry’s first collegiate multi and he’s doing everything we ask of him. Nate was really solid too. He got PRs in the 60 meters and the shot put. I’m looking forward to seeing them bounce back tomorrow and finish out this heptathlon."

Durham sits in sixth place with 2,884 points after four events. He started with a 7.27 in the 60 meters, marked a long jump of 21-10.75, tossed the shot put 38-1.5 and ended with a 6-5.5 clearance in the high jump. His 60-meter time and shot put are personal bests.

Prentice, competing in his first collegiate heptathlon, is in seventh place after four events with 2,850 points. He began with a 7.24 in the 60 meters, had a long jump of 22-1.75, marked a toss of 37-6.75 in the shot put and cleared 6-3.25 in the high jump. His 60-meter time, shot put and high jump are personal bests.

The heptathlon will resume Saturday with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and the 1,000-meter run. Also contested on Saturday are the high jump, long jump, the 3,000-meter finals and numerous running prelims.
