Hogs Travel to SEC Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-The No. 13 ranked University of Arkansas men’s golf team prepares to take on the teams of the SEC at the 2009 SEC Championship, which begins on Friday. The three-day event will be played at the 7,217 yard, par-72 Frederica Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. It will be the second year the tournament has been held at the Frederica Golf Club, a course designed by Thomas Fazio and known for its dramatic changes in elevation.Arkansas senior Andrew Landry is ranked No. 9 in the SEC and 41st in the Golfweek/Saragin Rankings with 29 rounds played. David Lingmerth has a 20th place ranking in the SEC and a 78th in Golfweek/Saragin.

At the 2008 Championships Arkansas finished last among the 12 teams of the SEC with a 33-over 897(308-292-297). Alabama won the title at 11-under 853(285-293-275).Individually, Alabama’s Michael Thompson took the title with an 8-under 208(70-73-65). Andrew Landry was the top Arkansas performer at a tie for 15th place with a 2-over 218(73-71-72). David Lingmerth tied for 32nd with a 6-over 222(78-75-69). Sam Chavez ended in 53rd at 14-over 230(78-73-79), followed by Will Osborne in a tie for 54th at 15-over 231(79-74-78), and Jason Turner at 58th with a 17-over 233(83-74-76).
