FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team learned it would travel to Tulsa to face Oral Roberts in a third round game in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Arkansas (21-11) defeated Missouri State (24-12) Sunday to advance but had to wait for Monday night’s game between Tulane and Oral Roberts in Tulsa to discover who they would play in the next round.
The Golden Eagles (23-10) defeated Tulane, 92-86, in the final minutes of the game hitting a couple of big free throws down the stretch.
ORU’s Kevi Luper led all scorers with 29 points and Georgia Jones added 22 for the Golden Eagles in the win.
Arkansas defeated Oral Roberts earlier this year, 80-63, on Dec. 16, in Bud Walton Arena. The Razorbacks were paced by 22 points from sophomore Sarah Watkins. She also had 10 rebounds. Lyndsay Harris had 12 points and C’eira Ricketts had 10 for Arkansas.
Luper led ORU in the first meeting with 20 points and was one of three players in double-figures in December.
