Jump to results SACRAMENTO, Calif. – University of Arkansas sophomore Kristin Ingram fired a career-best one-under 71 leading the seventh-ranked Lady Razorbacks to a tie for fifth place at the second round of the NCAA West Regional Championship in Sacramento, Calif., Friday. Ingram played her first nine holes even after the team started the day on the 12th hole. She bogeyed three and four but got birdies on five and six to remain even for the round. Another bogey on seven didn’t seem to rattle her as she posted a birdie on eight and added another on 10. “Kristin was great today,” said Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor. “My hat’s off to her for a great round of golf.” Arkansas’ team score was up a bit as the Lady’Backs counted a 297, nine over on the par 72, 6,338 yard course at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. The team began the day on the 12th hole playing the most difficult part of the course, 12 through 18, first. “We knew it would be important to start well today,” said Estes-Taylor. “And we did. But it got hard this afternoon. The wind was different and the course changed from the first round. We struggled a bit in the middle of the round but finished strong. That’s been our motto all year and I’m pleased with the way we came in. We didn’t play our best golf today but we’re still in a good place at the end of the round. Stacy (Lewis) had a great putt on the last hole and I think that’s going to give us the momentum we need for the last round.” Lewis was tied for third after a first-round 69 but battled with a 76 Friday and has moved to 12th overall with a 145 (69-76). The Woodlands, Texas, senior had a pair of uncharacteristic double bogeys on six and 18 running into the bunker on both holes. She battled back with birdies on 13 and eight and a final birdie on 11, her last hole of the day. Lewis followed her teammates and hit her tee shot on 11 to the left of the pin and sank a long putt to cap off her round. Ingram leads Arkansas with a 144 (73-71) and is tied for eighth overall. Junior Lucy Nunn moved into a tie for 27th overall with a 148 with solid rounds of 74-74 while freshman Kelli Shean is tied for 54th with a 151 (75-76). Sophomore Alex Schulte is 94th with 159 (80-79). As a team, Arkansas is tied for fifth place overall with a 588 (291-297). The top eight teams in each of the three regionals advance to the NCAA Championship in Albuquerque, N.M. May 20-24. Second-ranked Southern California leads the field for the second consecutive day with a five-under 571 (283-288). Forty-seventh-ranked UNLV is a surprise second with 578 (288-290) followed by No. 4 Arizona State with 581 (296-295). Number 14 Oklahoma State is fourth with 586 (293-293) with seventh-ranked Arkansas (291-297) and No. 12 Arizona (299-289) tied fir 588.
