FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Arkansas forward Jessica Jackson earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors, the league office announced today. Jackson, a Jacksonville, Ark., native, earned her second SEC honor after pacing the Razorbacks to a pair of wins last week and a perfect 10-0 record. Jackson and the Razorbacks defeated Kansas in Lawrence, Kan., Wednesday in the team’s only true road game of the non-conference schedule. They returned to Bud Walton for a big win over Northwestern State on Saturday. In those two contests, the 6-2 forward scored 31 points and hit a game-changing three-pointer late in the contest to swing momentum and secure the win against the Jayhawks. Jackson was 11-for-25 shooting 44 percent from the field and was 4-for-4 from the line for the week. The first-year player leads the team with 14.6 points per game this year and has a team-high 16 blocks. She ranks 11th in the SEC in scoring, ninth in the league in field goal percentage, 14th in the SEC in three-pointers made and fourth in the conference in blocks. Jackson has scored in double figures in nine of 10 games this year. Jackson and the Razorbacks return to the court hosting Tulsa at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the last game before a break from competition for final exams. Tickets for the game are available online and at the gate on game day. For more information on Arkansas women’s basketball, follow @RazorbackWBB on Twitter.
