James McCann powers the Razorbacks

FAYETTEVILLE – James McCann and the No. 2 Hogs are in Tempe, AZ where they will face No.3 UNC-Charlotte in the first round of the NCAA tournament regional. First pitch is at 4:00 p.m. CT Friday, June 3rd.

McCann has led the Hogs on and off the field this season with his leadership, defensive ability behind the plate, and his bat over the course of the 2011 campaign that helped the Hogs to a West Division crown this season. McCann is batting .309 this season, up from .286 last season, and has driven in 33 runs while hitting 6 homers.

McCann will undoubtably be selected in the MLB draft on June 8th which could mean the end of his career at Arkansas that has included 16 HRs, 78 RBIs, 152 hits, and 80 runs scored for the Hogs. McCann’s stretch in Arkansas has also included 148 games started and 165 games played.
