"The decision to retain an eight-game conference schedule while adopting provisions to ensure quality non-conference scheduling was a result of constructive dialogue between coaches, athletic directors and university presidents. I believe that this solution respects the history of traditional SEC matchups while strengthening non-conference scheduling across the board in our league. At the University of Arkansas, we have proactively taken those steps with non-conference series scheduled with Texas Tech, Michigan and TCU.
"Within the Southeastern Conference, we look forward to building a competitive rivalry with the University of Missouri in all sports. I believe this new rivalry will create excitement for our fans and will benefit both institutions. As we move forward, the University of Arkansas will continue to look for opportunities to better position ourselves as an institution and as a member of the SEC for the future of intercollegiate athletics."
