Johansson Advances to the Finals of the Rolex

FORT WORTH, Texas – Razorback junior Oskar Johansson advanced to the finals of the Rolex Invitational, Sunday morning with a win over 17th-seeded Genius Chidzikwe of SMU.
Johansson defeated Chidzikwe in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. Johansson will face the winner of the Shuon Madden-Johann Jooste match taking place Sunday afternoon.
“I am very proud of the good, solid performance that we have had,” head coach Robert Cox said. “We have had the third or fourth best performance in this tournament. For Oskar to be a finalist is a credit to his work ethic.”
This is Johansson’s second advancement to the finals of a tournament this fall. Johansson won his first collegiate title at the Arizona State Invitational. He defeated Peter Luczak of Fresno State in the championship finals 6-7, 6-4, 6-1.
The Rolex Invitational hosts 128 players from Division I school in Texas and Arkansas. Johansson and the second finalist from this tournament will join other finalist from the seven other regionals February at the ITA Rolex Indoors. The draw will contain the 16-best players in the nation.
