Jurasic, Oparenovic Continue Doubles Dominance
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas’ duo of Mia Jurasic and Ana Oparenovic continued its strong play in doubles Saturday at the Little Rock Classic.
The Razorback pair earned its third victory of the weekend, defeating West Virginia’s Habiba Shaker and Christina Jordan 6-4. Last season, Jurasic and Oparenovic posted a team-best 19-11 overall record in doubles competition.
Oparenovic, who is ranked No. 60 nationally, also picked up a win in singles action, beating TCU’s Seda Arantekin 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-4.
“Obviously a fantastic day again for Ana,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “She put the work in this summer to improve some things in her game and it’s already showing. We will try to finish strong tomorrow and use this weekend to springboard us into the next events.”
Oparenovic is coming off a freshman campaign that saw her post a 20-16 overall record in singles and earn SEC All-Freshman team honors for her efforts.
At the Colorado Invite, sophomore Shwetha Prabakar earned a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) over Colorado State’s Sandra Keta in singles consolation action.
