Jusino to represent Puerto Rico at Pan Am Cup
FAYETTEVILLE — Ana Sofia Jusino, a redshirt freshman for the University of Arkansas volleyball team, has been selected to represent her home country of Puerto Rico at the U-20 Pan American Cup. The competition will be March 16-24 in the host city of Havana, Cuba. The tournament will serve as a team qualifier for the 2013 FIVB Junior World Championships that will be held June 21-30 in the Czech Republic. “We’re really excited for Ana and this opportunity she has,” head coach Robert Pulliza said. “Any time you can represent your country in a competition of this caliber, it’s a big honor. We’re proud of her and glad that she’s a Razorback.” Puerto Rico is part of the four-team Group B that will have pool play March 18-20 to qualify for the medal rounds. The rest of Group B consists of Chile, Costa Rica and host team Cuba. Group A is made up of the teams from Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Peru. The finals of the U-20 Pan American Cup are scheduled for March 23. Jusino has past international experience as a member of the Puerto Rico Youth and Junior National teams. She was part of the Puerto Rico team that won bronze at the 2010 NORCECA Youth Continental Championships and competed at the 2011 FIVB World Youth Championships in Turkey.
