Kent joins women’s track staff

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Razorback women’s cross country and track and field head coach Lance Harter has announced the hiring of Jeff Kent.

"I’d like to thank Coach Lance Harter for this opportunity and I’m excited to join the University of Arkansas family," Kent said. "The women’s cross country and track and field programs at Arkansas have a rich history of excellence and I’m looking forward to working with the rest of our staff to bring out the best in our student-athletes, both academically and athletically."

Kent will serve as the director of women’s cross country and track and field operations. His day-to-day duties will include overseeing the program’s equipment needs, travel arrangements and meet management at Arkansas’ home events.

"I’m thrilled to announce Jeff Kent is joining our staff," Harter said. "He will be a valuable addition for the day-to-day operation of our team. As a former collegiate runner himself, he has a great understanding of what it means to work with a collegiate team."

A native of Valparaiso, Ind., Kent received his bachelor’s degree in health and sport studies from the University of Iowa and his master’s degree in health, physical education and recreation from Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.

Most recently, Kent served as Delta State’s graduate assistant women’s cross country coach. He was responsible for recruiting, budgeting, scheduling, fund raising and academic supervision as well as other aspects of the program.

Arkansas women’s cross country will continue the 2009 season with the Wisconsin Invitational, Sat. Oct. 3, in Madison, Wis.
