CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of Arkansas senior Dylan Kim posted a final round 2-under 70 playing to a runner-up finish at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Sunday. The ninth-ranked Razorbacks finished third overall.

Kim finished 7-under with rounds of 68-71-70=209, four shots behind the tournament medalist. It is her best finish as a Razorback and the eighth top-five finish in two seasons for the Plano, Texas, native. Kim had 14 birdies in three rounds, the second most of any player in the field.

Kim’s final round opened with back-to-back bogeys, but she rallied with five birdies in her next seven holes to turn 3-under. She gave a stroke back on No. 11 but finished strong with seven consecutive par holes.

Senior Cara Gorlei, playing in her first event of the season, finished T-8th shooting 3-under 69-72-72=213. The finish is the second-best for Gorlei and it is the third time she has counted all three rounds at par or lower.

Senior Maria Fassi finished T-14th shooting 73-70-73=215 and junior transfer Grace St-Germain was T-29th overall with rounds of 75-73-71=221. Freshman Ximena Gonzalez, playing in her first collegiate event, rounded out the Arkansas scores in a T-54th shooting 77-75-74=226.

As a team Arkansas slid up and down the leaderboard in the final round before finishing third overall. From Shauna Taylor
I’m pleased with how we performed this week. We had some new people in the lineup and I think that shows a lot about our depth. I’m proud of Dylan (Kim). A second-place finish against this field is fantastic. She’s been rock-solid all fall. She had a chance to move up and I think was within a couple of shots from winning the golf tournament. Cara (Gorlei) did a great job this week as well. She hasn’t been in the lineup but comes in and contributes in a big way this weekend. We have to continue to work hard on finishing. I’m excited about the growth and improvement over our three fall tournaments and I’m looking forward to Wilmington in a couple of weeks.

The Razorbacks wrap up the fall season Oct. 26-28, at The Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina.
