Kim's Debut Ends With SEC Weekly Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A week after making his Arkansas debut, Charles Kim has been named the SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week after helping the Razorbacks pick up their third straight top five finish at the Sea Best Invitational held at TPC Sawgrass.

Kim joined the Razorbacks in January after transferring from Texas after the fall semester. Last week’s start was not only his first as a Razorback but the first of his collegiate career, as he carded rounds of 72-72-73 to finish in a tie for 23rd place. Two of his three rounds contributed to the Razorbacks’ scorecard while he led the team and finished tied for second in the field of 84 players in par 3 scoring (-2).

A native of Cedar Park, Texas, Kim was the No. 24 player on the Junior Golf Scoreboard and No. 28 in the GolfWeek rankings in the 2015 class.

Currently No. 34 in the Golfweek rankings with the seventh-toughest strength of schedule in the nation, Arkansas will look to continue its momentum into the three-day All-American Intercollegiate held at the Golf Club of Houston on Feb. 19-21. The Razorbacks’ run of three straight top 5 finishes have produced a 28-10-1 head-to-head record over that span.
