Kolenda selected as honorary captain

FAYETTEVILLE -The University of Arkansas is proud to announce former Razorback All-American Greg Kolenda as the A Club honorary captain for the UTEP-Arkansas football game.

The 14th-ranked Razorbacks kick off against the Miners at 6 p.m. inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in a game set to be broadcast on ESPNU.

The University of Arkansas Athletic Department and the Razorback Foundation A Club is presenting an honorary captain for each home game this season. Each honorary captain will be honored prior to the game on the field, recognized on the RazorVision and accompany the Razorback captains to midfield for the coin toss. The honorary captain also appears at the Legends Tent in the AT&T Hog Trough approximately 90 minutes before game time.

Kolenda played offensive tackle for the Razorbacks from 1976-79. He earned All-America honors in 1979 and All-Southwest Conference accolades in each of his final two seasons. He was named to the UA All-Decade team for the 1970s.

Kolenda helped lead the Razorbacks to 35 victories during his career, including a share of the SWC championship in 1979. Arkansas appeared in three bowl games over the course of his career, highlighted by a 31-6 win over No. 2 Oklahoma in the 1978 Orange Bowl.
