Lady Razorback Community Service

Being a part of the northwest Arkansas community is an important part of being a Lady Razorback. This ranges from softball team visits to area nursing homes to track and field volunteer work with Race for the Cure and Special Olympics. But that’s just a small part of the Lady’Backs community service. Players visit area schools to read to youngsters in the school library. Arkansas is a charter member of the "Bring a Girl to the Game" promotion for National Women’s and Girls in Sport Day. The regional Girl Scout troops are involved in several projects, including Girl Scout Day, for many team sports like basketball, volleyball and softball. Each team has its own special way of involving itself with local youth. For example, the Lady’Back soccer team hosted an Easter egg hunt hosted this past April in Fayetteville.
VOLUNTEERS IN HONDURAS Lady Razorback athletes participate in numerous community service activities ranging from Razorbacks for Thanksgiving to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and Big Brother/Big Sister. During the summer of 2000, 20 Arkansas male and female athletes took their commitment to others to the next level as they traveled to Honduras for a week of volunteer work for the victims of Hurricane Mitch. Building four homes in a small community hit hard by Mitch’s wrath, the Lady’Backs and Razorbacks reached out across the literal miles of distance and the figurative miles of cultural divide.
