SAAC –
Purpose/MissionThe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is an organization made up of student-athletes to provide insight to the student-athlete experience. Members may serve as a liaison between student-athletes and university administration to provide input about different rules or regulations affecting their institution. Beyond their respective institutions, SAAC also allows for student-athletes to have a voice within the NCAA. In addition, SAAC works to promote a positive image for all Student-Athletes. SAAC is a national organization with separate committees for Division I, II, and III. There are also separate committees based upon conferences. The University of Arkansas Athletic Department is an active member in the Southeastern Conference SAAC program. The mission for National SAACs is “to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image.”
How SAAC Members are ChosenSAAC members are nominated as representatives by administration and coaches. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has at least one representative from each of the Lady Razorback Sports Teams.

ActivitiesThroughout the year, SAAC engages in various philanthropic efforts in the community. In past years SAAC has held a canned food drive for the Battered Women’s Shelter of Northwest Arkansas and donated supplies to the Seven Hills Homeless Shelter. They even held a Welcome Dinner in Fall 2005 for the 66 new enrollees who were here at the University of Arkansas due to Hurricane Katrina. They are also responsible for hosting a Student-Athlete Banquet at the end of each academic year.
