FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas junior sensation Aurelija Miseviciute heads to Columbus, Ohio while the rest of her teammates travel to Auburn, Ala., closing out the fall tennis season.
Miseviciute is set to compete at the ITA National Indoor Championships on Thursday at the campus of The Ohio State University. Currently ranked No. 119 in the nation, Miseviciute is battling against No. 8 ranked, Georgia Rose, of Northwestern in the first round of the Championships. Miseviciute qualified for the event by winning the ITA Central Region Singles Championship, and making it to the quarterfinals of the All-American Championships.
“The indoor has an awesome field this year, and we are very excited to see Aurelija in the think of it,” said Lady Razorbacks head coach Michael Hegarty.
The rest of the Lady’Back tennis team will compete in the SEC Fall Coaches Classic beginning on Thursday, which will give Arkansas a preview of their conference foes they face during the spring season.
“The team is looking forward to a great challenge down at Auburn at the SEC Classic,” Hegarty said. “The field is stacked as usual and it is a great opportunity for us to put another stamp on our strong fall campaign."
In singles action, senior Maryori Franco and junior Nanar Airapetian compete in Flight B, while senior Audrey Bordeleau and freshman Delia Demaschin contend in Flight C. Rounding out the Lady’Backs in singles action is Melissa Hoffmeister playing in Flight D.
Doubles action consists of Franco and Airapetian bringing their No. 25 rank into the A Flight, with Bordeleau and Demaschin serving up in the B Flight.
Thursday’s play will feature two rounds of doubles, with singles beginning on Friday.
