Lady Razorbacks roll into finals at Hurricane Invitational

TULSA, Okla. – Juniors Aurelija Miseviciute and Ela Kaluder once again lead Arkansas as the Lady Razorbacks head to seven finals matches of the Tulsa Hurricane Invitational. The dominating tennis play by the Lady’Backs Saturday will set up a couple of friendly affairs between teammates on Sunday. However, head coach Michael Hegarty doesn’t expect anyone to give in. “This has happened before so it’s nothing out of the ordinary,” said Hegarty. “I know it’s not a big deal to our players match up against a teammate, so we expect a good competitive atmosphere.” Miseviciute and Kaluder, ranked No. 57 nationally, made easy work of Oklahoma State’s Iryna Tkachenko and J. Karaitina, 8-2. The win sets up an all-Arkansas doubles final in the Red Draw after senior Maryori Franco and junior Nanar Airapetian defeated Yawna Allen and Nataliya Shatkovskaya of Oklahoma State, 8-5. The other Lady’Back match up will take place the White Draw of singles. Senior Audrey Boredleau topped Jenna Webster of Tulsa, 6-0, 6-1, while teammate freshman Delia Damaschin beat Tulsa Marta Marcinkowska, 6-4, 6-3, to advance to her first ever collegiate final. The Lady’Backs also had two other players advancing to the finals Sunday. Ela Kaluder received a default in the Blue Draw, and will go on to play Tkachenko in the finals Sunday. In the Gold Draw, Miseviciute soared past Agostina Santora of Tulsa, 6-0, 6-1. Also, Melissa Hoffmeister won her match in the Black consolation, 6-2, 6-2, over Corrine Langston of Oral Roberts.

The lone Lady’Backs loss of the day came to Franco in the Gold Draw as she was defeated by Alexandra Kichoutkin of Tulsa, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Be sure to stay tuned to LADYBACKS.COM for results of the Tulsa Hurricane Invitational.
