Lady'Back basketball hosts fan day on Sunday

FAYETTEVILLE – Head coach Tom Collen and the University of Arkansas women’s basketball team host Lady Razorback Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday afternoon at Bud Walton Arena.

The South Entrance doors open at 1:30 p.m. with the Lady’Backs conducting an interactive practice and intersquad scrimmage just after 2 p.m. Collen will have a question and answer period with the fans at the end of the scrimmage.

The first 500 through the doors receive a free hot dog and soft drink courtesy of Sodexho, Petit Jean Meats and Coca-Cola.

Fans also get copies of the official 2007-08 Lady Razorback schedule poster, and the team will sign autographs after the practice portion of the event.

Lady’Back fans can purchase season tickets for the upcoming year including the new Cox Communications Lady’Back Family Pack. For just $75, two adults and all the kids in the family get general admission seats for every Lady’Back regular season game. The Cox Communications Lady’Back Family Pack also includes Lil’Back Club membership for eligible (K-8th grade) kids in the family.

In addition to receiving posters and autographs, fans can take their picture inside the Lady’Backs’ inflatable Razorback tunnel or get photos with Big Red and the Razorback cheerleaders. A face painter and balloon artist will be on hand for the kids.

Arkansas, 18-13 last season, returns three senior starters for this year. Senior Lauren Ervin ranked top 25 in Division I last year in blocked shots, rebounds and field goal percentage. Veteran Lady’Back Sarah Pfeifer is back after receiving an extension of her playing time due to injuries earlier in her career. Senior point guard Brittney Vaughn led the SEC in assists per game.

The Lady’Backs also have several new faces familiar to Arkansas prep basketball fans with Fort Smith Northside’s Shanita Arnold, Central Arkansas Christian’s Whitney Zachariason and Mountain Home’s Brittney Richardson.

Arkansas hosts Missouri Southern on Sunday, Nov. 4, in the team’s only preseason exhibition game, then opens the regular season on Nov. 11 with Lipscomb.
