Swimming (Emily Fletcher, Summer Jackson, Dashya Kimmel and Lonnie Strange) and tennis (Lindsey Brown, Ela Kaluder, Aurelija Miseviciute and Rachel Wilhelm) had four athletes honored from each squad. “I am really proud to have over half of our freshman class selected to the honor roll,” said head softball coach Jamie Pinkerton. “We stress academics to our team so this is a great achievement.” Also listed to the honor roll were, from golf: Lucy Nunn; from gymnastics: Alexandra LaChance; from soccer: Whitney Allison, Megan Fawley and Abbey Wilburn; from track and field/cross country: Denise Bargiachi, Jennifer Harper and Kelly Vrshek; and from volleyball: Destiny Clark, Caira Daugherty. The number of Lady’Backs recognized on the 2006 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll are up from those in 2004 and 2005 when 21 and 20 student-athletes, respectively, were honored. The 2006 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2005-06 academic calendar. Each student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above; be on scholarship or a letter winner; have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit; and have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
