Lady'Back golf 10th after first round

Jump to results FAYETTEVILLE – The 20th-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team is tied for 10th place after a first-round 300 at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Nashville, Tenn., Friday. Arkansas posed a 12-over 300 and trails leader and third-ranked Georgia who opened with a 280. No. 1 Duke is second with a 287, followed by No. 7 UCLA with a 287, No. 17 Stanford with a 291 and No. 12 Arizona rounds out the top five with a 292. “Our round was not too bad,” said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester. “We’re not quite where we’d like to be in the standings but really played pretty well today. Georgia was on fire and really tore up the course today. Freshman Alexandrea Schulte leads the Lady’Backs and is tied for 20th overall with a one-over 73. “Alex birdied two of her last three holes coming in,” said Hester of Schulte’s inaugural event. Sophomore Lucy Nunn is tied for 29th with a 74 followed by junior and third-ranked Stacy Lewis who is tied for 43rd with a plus-four 76. “Lucy was even for most of the back side and played really well,” said Hester. Junior Ashley Medders is tied for 55th with a 77 and junior Whitney Sylvan posted an 84 in the first round. Freshman Corinna Rees, playing as an individual, is tied for 74th with an 81. “This is a solid first round to build on and we’re going to come out and see how much we can improve Saturday,” said Hester.
